On Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 4:00 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church, 225 French Street in Bangor, invites the community to gather to observe the Centenary of the Armistice that ended World War I.
The remembrance will feature readings of poems by Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon, and other soldier poets of the war, read by Joseph Bearor. The poems will be interspersed with theological reflections by Rabbi Bill Siemers of Congregation Beth Israel in Bangor and The Rev. Canon Anne Mallonee, former vicar of Trinity Church Wall Street and St. Paul’s Chapel, who planned and participated in observances of the five and ten year anniversaries of 9/11 in lower Manhattan. The event will include veteran Judy Jones’s reflection on her service and a recitation of the names of Bangor residents who died of all causes during the war. A reception will follow a concluding hymn accompanied by Kevin Birch.
No admissions cost, all are invited.
